How to add products in your Shopify Store

What is Shopify?

Shopify is a subscription to a software service that offers you to create a website and use their shopping cart to sell your products, ship them and manage your products. Benefit of using Shopify is you can get access to easy to use admin panel where you can add products, process orders and enter store details efficiently.

Shopify is also very cost friendly. You can subscribe to Shopify monthly package and manage your fully functional digital or physical goods store.

If you don’t know how to use Shopify and add products, you are reading the right article. Here is the guide of adding products to your Shopify store.

Add your Products to the Shopify store

Login in to your Shopify Store, Navigating the left bar select ‘Products’.

Then you will see a blue “Add a Product” button in the middle of the page. Add the required details in your product page. Especially put details on those fields who help SEO such as name, description, and URL.

Here is the screen where you upload your product pictures. Once the images are uploaded, they can be rearranged, so don’t worry about their particular order.

Your product image is the one who attract customers, due to which your sales increase. So design your product image in the best possible way, so it can show its uniqueness in close up mode of image.

I suggest you keep all images the same dimensions. Unless you want to show your products in Pinterest board way.

Once all things are filled out, always remember to click “save product” button in the top and bottom right corner.

Setup Collections (Group of Products)

Collection is a group of products that have same features that customers looking for while visiting your Shopify store. For example, your customer might be looking for:

  • Clothes for men, women or children
  • Items of specific types like lamps, cushions or rugs.
  • Items on sale
  • Specific colors items
  • Seasonal products

Products can be appear in any numbers of collections. Especially, you can show your collections on the homepage and in the main menu.

This helps customers to find out easily what they are looking for, without going to the catalogue page.

Manual and Automatic Collections

While adding a new collection, you can select how products should be added into it. There are two options:

  1. Manually – You can add or remove specific product in a manual collection.
  2. Automatically – You can set up selection conditions to automatically include products that meet certain area.

Payment Gateways

A payment gateway allows you take the payment from your customers through your website. The price and commission rate is important, but it is also important to see what features they offer. Not all payment gateways are created equal.
